Source the hardware and consumables
This page gives all the items that the build needs in addition to the carbon spars
(docs/spars.md) and the electronics cart (docs/parts-list.md). The screw lengths are
measurements from the holes in the printed parts. The manual says only “long M3 screws”.
Fasteners (measured)
Section titled “Fasteners (measured)”All the holes have a diameter of 3.1mm for M3 screws. The screws go through the holes. Each screw then goes into a nut or into the thread of the part on the other side.
CAUTION: Do not use the screws that come with the lift motors. The XING2 2809 comes with M3x10 screws. Through a 5mm mount, an M3x10 screw puts 5mm of thread into the motor base. This length can touch the windings. The manual gives a warning that this causes a short circuit in the motor. Use M3x8 screws for the lift motors. Do a check of each screw against the motor before you install it.

|---|---|---|---|
| VTOL Spar Mount, horizontal, through mount and spar | 4 | 18.6mm through | M3x25 + M3 nylock nut |
| The RP4TD’s two ELRS SMA bulkhead jacks (row 16e, CAB.011) in their brackets on the Spar Box walls (th-blender W121 08799381) | 2 nuts, 2 lock washers | 73mm from the M10’s compass, so the bag’s nut and star washer, which may be plated steel, are replaced with non-magnetic ones | Amphenol 132-NUT-SMA-GLD SMA panel nut, 1/4-36 (Mouser 523-132-NUT-SMA-GLD, $1.07, 31,808 in stock on 2026-10-20; check with a magnet that it is brass, since a thin nickel underplate is harmless but a steel nut is not) and a brass internal-tooth lock washer for 1/4 in (local) |
| Nose Cone Plate’s pitot clamp boss at nose Y 21.5, up from below into the boss (th-blender W93.2 60f05e70, kept in W104 888383ba: it holds the tube against the cone’s slide-off pull) | 1 | the tube’s block and spigot sizes are photo estimates; checked against the real tube before the plate prints | M2x6 thread-forming screw for plastics |
| VTOL motor mounts (keel B and front stilt B), vertical, down through the sleeve and spar tip into the mount’s root | 4 (one a mount) | 2.5mm pilot, blind (th-blender, ed77744; one vertical hole a mount, measured in W43). The kit’s own mounts took M3x40 through the spar tip (Measured facts) | M3x25, self-tapping into the PETG root, about 6mm of thread, no nut |
| Pusher Motor Mount (ribbed) lock, vertical down through Tail B into the mount (th-blender, f4ec9aa, ea863d9, e58e56a) | 2 | the two outer holes, Y 558 and 584, each countersunk 90° in Tail B’s crest so the head sits flush (Ryan, 2026-10-06; the kit’s pan heads stood 2 to 5mm proud of the narrow spine); the middle hole at Y 571 is not drilled. Two spaced screws keep the mount rigid if the ribs relax, where one would be a pivot (th-aeronautics, 2026-10-06). No glue | 2 x M3x25 flat head, hex socket, 90° (ISO 10642), steel; buy 3 for a spare. Not in the M3 socket-head assortment |
| Pusher Motor Mount lock, Fuselage C (the first build), vertical down through the C Tail into the mount (th-blender 48253a0) | 2 | the two outer holes at Y 598 and 624, countersunk 90° in the Tail’s crest so the heads sit flush | 2 x M3x30 flat head, hex socket, 90° (ISO 10642), steel; buy 3 for a spare. Fuselage B’s row above keeps M3x25 |
| Lift props on the lift motors (Gemfan F8041 3-blade, row 3a) | 4 | the prop’s 5mm centre hole on the motor’s M5 prop shaft, clamped by the motor’s own nut and washer | 4 x aluminium M5 nylock nut and washer, one in each EMAX ECO II 2807 box (RMRC’s box list): about 0.7g each with the washer (ESTIMATE, aluminium; weigh one), at the lift rotors, Y 40 and 512, X ±190, on top of the prop. The nut on a motor that turns the nut’s loosening way relies on its nylon insert: check it after the first flights (Ryan found the nuts missing from the scenes, 2026-10-15) |
| Pusher prop on the pusher motor (APC 10x7E, row 6) | 1 | the prop’s 5mm bushing on the M5 shaft, clamped by the motor’s flange nut | the M5 flange nut that comes with the EMAX ECO II 3115 (row 4): about 2g (ESTIMATE, steel; weigh it), at the pusher hub, about Y 645 on the thrust line |
| Camera Arm to the riser on Battery Tray B (th-blender, 1dbefba, 7bcbbd8) | 2 + 2 | two M3 screws into M3 heat-set inserts in the arm (4.0mm holes through the 5.9mm tongue, th-blender b1401fa: the 5.7mm inserts press in flush with the riser face); two steel dowel pins pressed into the riser’s 2.95mm front holes locate it | 2 x M3 screws, length to the riser (ESTIMATE: check on assembly); 2 x 3 x 8mm steel dowel pins, DIN 6325 or ISO 8734 |
| Lift motors to VTOL Motor Mount | 16 | 5.0mm plate | M3x8 |
| Pusher motor to Pusher Motor Mount | 4 | 8.0mm plate | M3x12, check against the motor |
| Camera to the Camera Arm’s cradle | 2 to 4 | M2, included with the Walksnail Moonlight | |
| Walksnail VTX to the Camera Arm’s four standoffs (th-blender, d73a90b) | 4 | M2, the VTX’s own M2 x 5 or 6 from the Walksnail box | |
| Elevon servo into the Servo Mount MD65MG | 6 (3 per servo) | 1.6mm pilots, 6mm deep | M2x8 self-tapping, usually included with the Hitec MD65MG |
| LUX F765 to the Avionics Plate (LUX F765), from below | 4 | 3.3mm holes on the 30.5 x 30.5mm square, counterbored 6.4 x 1.6mm; the board on its own rubber grommets (in its box) | 4 x M3 x 6 nylon pan head up through the 3.0mm plate (counterbored 1.6, so 1.4mm of plate) into 4 x M3 female-female nylon standoffs, 3.0mm long; the board sits on the standoffs on its own grommets, held by the 4 screws from the LUX’s box from above. The C plate is drawn for the 3.0mm standoff: its counterbores, its Load reference and the USB-C plug height assume it (th-blender, make_holders, 2026-10-15) |
| Matek Power Hub V2.1 to its Power Hub Pad, hub A (port wall); hub B left the build on 2026-10-15 (two Micro BECs on hub A’s pad feed the servos) | 4 | 30.5 x 30.5mm square; an M3 heat-set insert in each of the pad’s four bosses (th-blender) | M3 nylon standoffs, 5mm, male thread into the insert, and M3 nylon pan heads through the board into the standoffs, 4 of each (the standoff length is th-blender’s; the screw length is an ESTIMATE: check it against the board) |
| Our flight controller (rev 2) to the Avionics Plate (H7), later | 4 | 3.2mm holes through the plate for ruthex M2x3 heat-set inserts, flush at the deck face | M2x6 screws from above, through the board and a 2mm nylon M2 spacer (about 5mm OD) into each insert. Only for our own board; the 6C Mini flies first (th-blender, 6ed39db) |
| Q43 Seat to Fuselage Mid B, under the radome (th-blender e30cfec, approved by Ryan 2026-10-04) | 7 | 5 into the Q43 and the seat, 2 into heat-set inserts in Mid B’s corbels | 5 x M3 x 6 nylon pan head; 2 x M3 brass heat-set inserts, 5.7mm long (in the bay list below). Check against the real Q43 first (th-telemetry). Every screw in this seat is brass or nylon, never steel or A2/A4 stainless: it sits next to a compass (th-telemetry, GPS thread 8948e3d). th-eda’s Q43 backup module, if it takes the seat, uses brass (or nylon) M2.5 screws in its two holes, H1 9.6mm from its compass, and a brass standoff if the seat wants it grounded |
| Q43 Seat (C v2.4B) on the Avionics Plate, Fuselage C (the first build; th-blender make_q43_seat.seat_screws_c) | 9 | 3 up from under the deck into the Q43’s three holes, through the seat’s counterbore; 6 down from the deck’s top into heat-set inserts in the plate’s four posts and the seat’s two ears | 3 x M3 x 6 and 6 x M3 x 8 nylon pan head; 6 x M3 brass heat-set inserts (counted in the insert row below). Brass or nylon only near the compass, as the Mid B row. This row replaces the Mid B row’s 5 x M3 x 6 on C |
| MS4525DO board to the Airspeed Nose Bracket | 4 | bosses for thread-forming screws; the 17 x 10mm pattern is an ESTIMATE (th-blender, 6bdee70) | M2 thread-forming, about M2 x 6: check the pattern and length against the board |
| Static ports in the Fuselage Front (nose ring, pack pocket), one on each side at Y 40.0, Z -10 on Fuselage C v2.4B (th-blender W77, de8f23b8; Y 46 on the v2.3 nose ring), square to the skin (Ryan 2026-10-06, th-blender e1f6bdc) | 2 | 1.7mm hole through 7mm of wall; tube 13mm long, flush outside, about 6mm inside | 2 x 13mm of 1/16 in brass tube (parts list row 11d). Before you bond, make sure each hole is square to the skin: the printed hole sets the tube’s angle. Bond with thin CA or epoxy. After the glue cures, sand each tube end flush to within 0.05mm, with no burr. Then put a straightedge across each port in two directions: no light must show under it, and the tube must be neither proud nor recessed. A step changes the local pressure by more than the 1 to 2 % that th-aeronautics mapped, and ARSPD_RATIO depends on it (th-avionics 323775c). Fill and sand the nose joint seam flush from Y 30 to 55 around the ports, with no tape edge or paint ridge there (th-aeronautics). Lines: one leg of 1/16 in ID silicone (row 11f) from each tube to the tee (row 11e), then the kit’s line, about 100mm, to the MS4525’s STATIC nipple. The Prandtl tube’s own static outlet stays open |
| Lift 4-in-1 ESC to the Lift ESC Cradle (belly), Fuselage B only (on C v2.4B, see the Lucid Edge Bracket row) | 4 | down through the board’s 30.5 mm holes into the standoffs’ 2.5mm pilots (th-blender, 0131caa) | M3 x 6 self-tapping |
| TBS Lucid 4-in-1 to the Lucid Edge Bracket, on edge, Fuselage C v2.4B (th-blender W42, e4e6ebf0) | 4 | an M3 x 4mm heat-set insert in each of the bracket’s four bosses (4.0mm bore, 4.5mm deep); the bosses reach the board’s pack-side face at Y 251.33, so the screw clamps the board | 4 x M3 x 4mm brass heat-set inserts and 4 x M3 x 6 brass socket or pan head (M3 x 5 also fits), or titanium Grade 5 if on hand; never steel or A2 stainless (cold-headed A2 is weakly magnetic), never nylon (it creeps near the Lucid’s 4 to 6 W). The screws are about 55mm from the Q43’s compass, inside the 100mm rule (th-telemetry, 2026-10-15). Brass is soft: torque lightly, about 0.3 to 0.4 N·m (ESTIMATE), with medium-strength threadlocker |
| CG Slider halves, port to starboard, at the laps at Y 95, 153 and 215 (th-blender b86402b, a4aca09) | 3 | 4.2mm 90° countersinks, 1.6mm pilots; the tips clear the tray’s channels by 0.5mm | M2 x 4 countersunk nylon (parts list row 17j), by hand |
| AS5600 board (Adafruit 6357) under its shelf on Battery Tray B (slide), chip down | 2 | M2 x 6 nylon pan head (row 17d): no steel near the magnet | |
| Antenna cassette lids to the keel shells | 6 (3 per lid) | 4.0mm through the lid, 2.0mm of thread in a 1.6mm pilot, 0.8mm of skin behind it | M2x6 countersunk, brass or nylon, not steel: steel near a dipole detunes it (th-telemetry). Brass self-tapping screws are the easy find. A drop of thin CA in each pilot hardens the LW-PLA thread |
The simplest purchase is one M3 socket-head assortment with 8, 12, 16, 25, 35 and 40mm lengths and nylock nuts, and a few extra M3x40 screws. You can use stainless steel or alloy steel. Do not use aluminium for the spar bolts that carry the lift motors.
Glue, tape and consumables
Section titled “Glue, tape and consumables”| Item | Qty | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| CA glue, medium viscosity | 1 to 2 bottles | The manual’s glue for every segment joint. Accelerator spray optional |
| CA glue, thin | 1 small bottle | Fills the wing seams before sanding (print plan, “Seal the wing seams”) |
| Epoxy, 5-minute | 1 small pack | Bonds the Pusher ESC Tray (belly) to the floor beside the lift ESC (th-blender, 734d59e); bonds the Lift ESC Cradle (belly) to the floor across the Fuselage Front to Mid B joint (th-blender, 0131caa); also suits the Airspeed Nose Bracket in the cone |
| Sandpaper, 240 to 400 grit | a few sheets | Sands the filled wing seams flush. Sand lightly: the LW-PLA skin is one perimeter |
| Hinge-seal tape | about 1 m | One strip along each elevon’s upper hinge line. It seals the gap and holds no part (Ryan, 2026-09-28). Product not chosen |
| Zip ties, 2.5 to 3.5mm wide | 6 or more | Two round the video unit and its cradle, one round the rear spar at the Avionics Plate, one round the receiver, and one 2.5mm tie for the airspeed joiner in its seat, two 2.5mm ties in the LoRa B Plug Cradle’s grooves, one round the SMA plug’s nut and one round the 50 Ω load (snug, not tight: RG316 dielectric; th-blender 63fa640); the joiner slots take 2.5mm only. The pod path adds two per S50 lift ESC and one per pod joiner (12). The 4-in-1 sits on its cradle’s standoffs. On Fuselage C the DYS Aria sits on its TPU pad in its tray and takes two ties (th-blender W40.1, 756d71bf); Fuselage B’s belly tray took none (734d59e). No tape and no hot glue hold parts in this build (Ryan, 2026-09-27): each has a printed holder |
| Pull cord | about 2 m | Braided nylon or Kevlar, 0.5 to 1 mm. Leave one in each motor-wire channel beside the 4-in-1’s phase leads, tied off at the pod and at the bay end, so the pod leads can go in on it if the DroneCAN pod path comes back (th-eda, 2026-09-29). The channel has no room for a spare lead: it would be 90 to 98 % full |
| Trim weight on the Trim Bracket (C v2.4B) (th-blender W100.1 2ae77187, Ryan 2026-10-19): a PETG bracket bonded on the Front’s port chine beside the pack, the washers stacked aft along X 46.5, Z 0 on one M3 screw into a brass heat-set insert in its aft face. The day build carries no washers: the empty bracket (1.46 g) moves the CG enough that 268mm is on the slider (th-aeronautics 876a2e09; ESTIMATE until the balance). The stall test (aim 266, measured at or forward of 267) takes 4 washers for 267 and 12 for 265.95 since the payload cover went to ASA (th-aeronautics 6d23206a) | 16 washers (14 + 2 spares) | M3 brass fender washers, 15 x 3.2 x 1.5mm, about 2.15g each (30g for 14); non-magnetic, clamped on the screw, never putty, tape or hot glue. Screw by the stack (th-blender): M3x6 for 0 or 1 washer, x8 for 2, x10 for 3 to 4, x12 for 5, x16 for 6 to 8, x20 for 9 to 10, x25 for 11 to 14; buy an M3x6, an M3x16 and an M3x25 pan head, A2 stainless or brass. One brass M3 x 4 x 4.6mm heat-set insert in the bracket. Write the grams and the Y on the build sheet, and do the CG check again after each change |
| Nose cone magnets | 10 | 8 x 3mm N52 disc magnets as the hatch’s: five pairs since nose rev C (th-blender, d73a90b), flush in the Nose Cone Plate’s and the Nose Ring Plate’s mating faces (th-blender, 1dbefba). Fit them as the hatch’s: one plate’s five first, then each partner on its magnet before you glue it, so every pair attracts. The hatch’s 20-pack below covers both sets (18) with 2 spares |
| Filament dowels, nose | 17 | cut 1.75mm filament, about 8.4mm each (the Trim Bracket’s and the Radio Pigtail Clip’s two each, 9mm, at the end): four in the Nose Cone Plate, three in the Nose Ring Plate, two in the radio cradle’s bracket (th-blender, d73a90b), two in the single J2 bracket (a89d83b; the J2 split keeps its foot stations). The Pitot Saddle and its seven dowels left the build with W93.2 (th-blender 60f05e70, 2026-10-19). Two more, about 9mm each, bond the Trim Bracket into the Front’s port chine with CA or epoxy (W100.1). Two more, about 9mm each, bond the Radio Pigtail Clip into the Front’s dowel slots on the port wall (th-blender W110 b9bb2d81). Two more, about 9mm each, bond the Static Line Clip into the Front’s upper starboard wall (route B, th-blender W117.1 88ac2c95). Every glued joint takes filament dowels (Ryan, 2026-10-06). Cut them from the spool |
| Filament dowels, the power hub, LoRa clip and saddle, the Aria Tray, the lights node pads, the ELRS SMA brackets and the RP4TD tie bars | 24 on Fuselage C | cut 1.75mm filament, about 12mm each (6mm into the wall, the rest into the part; ESTIMATE): four in hub A’s Power Hub Pad (hub B’s pad left the build, 2026-10-15) and two in the LoRa A rise clip, 9mm each (3mm into the clip, 6mm into the Front’s port wall; th-blender W65, 4db6f753). The LoRa A mouth clip does not print on v2.4B, so its two dowels go (Ryan, 2026-10-17). Two more, with CA, bond the LoRa B Park Saddle to the Front’s starboard chine at Y 251.5 (Ryan, 2026-10-18; th-blender W79.1, 6cc987a3); no cable tie is needed. Four more, 9mm each, bond the two ELRS SMA Bulkhead Brackets into the Spar Box walls, two a bracket (th-blender W121 08799381). Four more, 9mm each, bond the two RP4TD Pigtail Tie Bars into the Bay’s walls, two a bar (th-blender W122 6377d401); tie each pigtail to its bar with a 2.5mm zip tie or waxed lacing. Four more for the Aria Tray, 8mm each: set them in the Bay’s walls first (5mm in, 3mm proud), then slide the tray aft onto them in its slots and glue it (th-blender W46, 86151370). Fuselage C withdraws the LoRa B mouth clip and the LoRa B Plug Cradle (LoRa B parks on the beacon carrier), so their four dowels go (th-blender W43); Fuselage B took 18 Four for the two Lights Node Seat Pads (th-blender W48.3, 816d4ebc): the forward pair 6mm into the Front’s starboard wall, the aft pair 8mm through the Charge Power Bracket’s plate into the Front. |
| Filament dowels, the wing clips and Wing Inner Plates | 10 | cut 1.75mm filament: two in each Wing Clip (C v2.4B, ours), about 15.6mm each, down through the VTOL Section’s root block and cut flush with the skin; three in each Wing Inner Plate (C v2.4B, ours), about 7.2mm each, at the stations (X 248.6; Y 259, Z 9.5; Y 283, Z 8.6; Y 316, Z 8.6). Glue the clips with epoxy, not CA: the side gaps are 0.4mm (th-blender W44, W73 851d43db). They replace the kit Clip, Clip Base and Wing Inner Plate on the own-section wing |
| Lights node board to its two Seat Pads, starboard slot (th-blender W48.3) | 4 | 1.6mm pilots, the board on edge |
| Hatch magnets, Fuselage C | 4 per airframe | 20 x 10 x 5 mm N52 block magnets, nickel-plated, magnetized axially through the 5 mm thickness (north on one 20 x 10 face; th-blender). N48 or N50 is acceptable, with about 5 to 8 % less pull (ESTIMATE), still more than the old discs in total. Two pairs, one a side, at the Hatch’s front: one block of each pair in the Hatch’s pocket (20.2 x 10.2 x 5.1, Hatch Z 30.0 to 35.1, long side 21.6° off Y, within Y 90.8 to 113.1 and X ±41.8 to 58.5 on v2.4B, measured in W43) and one in the Front’s matching pocket (Z 24.9 to 30.0) (Ryan, 2026-10-11; th-blender ba5ffa57). They replace the twelve 8 x 3 mm discs, about +12 g. The Hatch’s aft end holds on its snap catch (the Hatch Catch, glued on two filament dowels into the Front’s roof), and the Canopy on snap features, with no magnets (Ryan, 2026-10-11). WARNING: fit the two pairs antiparallel, so their fields cancel at the Q43 and the SEN0697 compass: the port pair with north up, the starboard pair with north down (th-telemetry). Each of the four bosses carries an engraved N and an arrow: fit each block with its north face toward the arrow (th-blender 553decf1). A reversed pair doubles the field at the Q43, from about 35 to 70 µT. Find north with a compass or a marked magnet before you glue. Press each block into its pocket with a drop of medium CA, not hot glue; fit the Hatch’s blocks first, then put each Front block on its partner before you glue it, so every pair attracts. Fit the Hatch aft end first (it snaps), then lower the front onto the magnets. Supplier and price: not chosen yet (th-main); buy to the spec above. The nose’s ten 8 x 3 mm discs stay: one UMAGNETS 20-pack, $10.89 on 2026-10-03, with 10 spares. Fuselage B’s Hatch Front took four pairs of 8 x 3 mm discs |
| Blue thread-locker | 1 | Motor screws |
| Heat-shrink assortment | 1 | Wire extensions |
| 16 AWG silicone wire, 3 colours | about 0.5m total | Pusher motor extension, about 15cm per phase lead. The lift motors’ extensions to the 4-in-1 in the belly are 18 AWG (parts list row 2c, about 2.3mm OD); they need none only on the DroneCAN pod path, where each ESC sits at its pod |
| Servo extension leads, 60cm, 20 AWG | 2 | Wing servo to the elevon Y lead at the flight controller on Fuselage C: the MD65MG’s own 160mm lead plus a 60cm 20 AWG extension cut to about 475mm plus slack covers each run of about 635mm (th-blender 8765582, ESTIMATE). 20 AWG keeps the servo at 4.84 to 4.89 V at a stall on hub B’s 5.0 V (th-avionics). Parts list row 7a |
| Battery strap | 2 per airframe | Hook-and-loop, 20mm wide, 2mm thick at most, through the CG Slider’s strap slots (X ±33.6 to 35.6) and round the pack (th-blender, c3bbe21). The aft strap also goes round the lighting battery on top of the pack (th-blender a8bf553), so it is about 13.5mm longer than the forward one. Overlap the strap at the side, not on top: there is no room for a buckle or a double layer under the Hatch Front. Buy two 400mm straps and cut each to fit with about 40mm of overlap (ESTIMATE until the dry fit) |
| Filament: PLA Aero 1kg, PETG 250g, a few grams of TPU 95A | Only the TPU for the optional FC dampeners |
Payload bay and Survey3W cover
Section titled “Payload bay and Survey3W cover”For th-blender’s payload bay in Fuselage Mid B and Tail B (44a57bf, 505f241). It is in the first build (Ryan, 2026-10-03): with no aft hatch, the bay is the only way into the rear fuselage.
| Item | Qty | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| M3 heat-set inserts, 5.7mm long, for a 4.0mm hole | 21 on Fuselage C | Five in the bay’s bosses for the covers (the Y 356 and Y 485 pairs and the Y 519 centre; Ryan, 2026-10-10, th-blender b4b7c69), six for the C Q43 Seat (the plate’s four posts and the seat’s two ears; Mid B took two in its corbels, for 17), two in the Camera Arm, four in each Power Hub Pad’s bosses (th-blender). The bosses print at 100 % infill through the project files’ modifier: LW-PLA holds inserts poorly |
| M3 countersunk screws (ISO 10642), about M3 x 8, brass or titanium Grade 5 | 5 | Hold each payload cover: a 2.5mm cover plus a 5.7mm insert. They sit 87mm from the M10’s compass, inside the 100mm rule: never steel or A2 (refitting a cover would move the hard-iron offset). Nylon only on the plain cover that carries nothing (th-telemetry, 2026-10-15) |
Later: cargo door
Section titled “Later: cargo door”The cargo door is low priority: Ryan will revise its actuation. Buy these when it is built.
| Item | Qty | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Music wire, 1.5mm | 2 x 140mm | Cargo door hinge pins |
| Music wire, 1.0mm | about 160mm | Cargo door pushrod |
| EMAX ES9051 servo, 4.3g | 1 | Cargo door |
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Fine-tooth saw or rotary cut-off wheel | Carbon tube |
| 3mm drill bit | VTOL spar holes, with the printed cutting tools |
| Servo tester | Centres servos at 1500 µs before gluing the mounts |
| Soldering iron and soft solder | Wire extensions, XT60, and the pitot tube’s collar (with the flux, parts list row 11j) |
| Hex drivers, 2 and 2.5mm | M3 and M2 socket heads |
| SMA torque wrench, 5/16 in, 5 in-lb (0.56 N·m) | Parts list row 16l. Joint J2 (Ryan, 2026-10-06): tighten by hand, then to about 0.6 N·m so vibration does not loosen it. Order the 5 in-lb option of the KCR-3125S, not the 8 in-lb default, which is for stainless SMA. Hold the bulkhead jack’s hex with a second wrench so the printed bracket takes no twist |
| Coax crimp tool, RG316 | Not in the cart: if you do not have one, buy it before the coax work. Amphenol RF 47-10150: ratcheting frame 47-10000 with die set 47-20004, hex cavities 0.068, 0.128 and 0.178 in, for RG174, RG188 and RG316. Amphenol names it as the tool for the 132114 SMA plugs (16k). It may not suit row 16c’s plugs, which are generic since 2026-10-22: their ferrule is 2.9 mm across (Ryan’s measurement), smaller than the 0.128 in (3.25 mm) cavity, so it likely wants a hex near 0.100 in (2.54 mm), which this die set does not have (ESTIMATE). Its listing (POBADY, Amazon B0D9BBDSYX) names no crimp tool or die. Before crimping the keel runs, crimp one on a scrap of RG316: it must hold a firm hand pull, about 30 N (ESTIMATE), with the braid not slipping. Check on that first one whether the centre pin crimps or solders; most of these generic plugs solder it (th-telemetry, 2026-10-22). About $121 to $130 (ESTIMATE: Newark $130.49, DigiKey and Mouser about $121.49 from Octopart, not read on the sellers’ pages); the die set alone is $40.90 at RF Parts if a compatible frame (RF Industries RFA4005-20) is on hand. | Wheel tube cutter, small | Cuts the 4, 5 and 6mm brass tube for the pitot tube and its collar without crushing it (how-to: Build the airspeed tube) |
| T-handle tap wrench that holds a 1/4 in (6.35mm) shank | Turns the 30° V-bit (Bench tools row) by hand to cut the pitot tube’s mouth. No spindle and no ER11 collet |
| Soft-jaw vise, calipers, magnifier, fine file | Hold, measure and dress the brass tube and the collar slices |
| Abrasive paper, 400 and 1000 grit; isopropyl alcohol | Finish the tube’s mouth; clean the flux and the oils off before the sleeve goes on |
| DC current meter: a Hall-effect DC clamp meter, or an inline DC power meter rated for 6S | The first-flight card’s step 23 (th-avionics 404a0af5): measure the avionics’ idle current on one pack lead at the first power-up, to set BATT_AMP_OFFSET and to catch an open PM02 current lead, which the LUX reads as a steady 5.5 A. It must read DC: an AC-only clamp reads zero on a DC lead. For a clamp, choose one with a low DC range (resolution of 0.01 A, ESTIMATE of what the idle current needs) |
| Safety glasses, P100 respirator, nitrile gloves | Carbon dust and CA vapour, per the manual |
