Propose a payload

Payloads / propose

A payload brief is a short description of something you would fly in the belly bay. Estimates are fine: say what you know. The questions are the ones the aircraft and its simulator need, so a brief written today is not asked for again.

What the brief asks

  • What it is, and what it earns: what you would see, measure, carry or deliver, and for whom.
  • Mass in grams and size in millimetres. The bay takes 100 g with the Survey3W fitted, and about 165 g with the camera off (an estimate). See what the bay can take.
  • Power: none, 5 V, the 6S pack, or both.
  • Interface to the flight controller: UART, CAN, I2C, USB, PWM or none.
  • The mission it flies: a survey grid, a loiter over a point, a vertical profile, point to point, or a hover.
  • Whether it drops: a drop needs the cargo door, which is not on the first build.

Where it goes

A brief is an issue in the build's public repository, terrahawk-public, with the payload label. If you have an account on that server, open a payload brief: the form asks the questions above.

Registration on that server is closed for now, so without an account you cannot open an issue there yet. A form on this site that files the brief for you is planned. Until it exists, theideas and the bay's limits show what fits.
