Ryan’s Original Prusa i3 MK2 (not the MK2S), back in service on 2026-10-14 after a new thermistor, a PID tune, a PINDA adjustment and a new Live Z. The prusa-i3-mk2 session drives it over USB serial, so it reads plain G-code, not bgcode. It has a bare PEI film and no steel sheet, so it prints PLA only. An upgrade to MK2.5S+ is planned; its printed parts print on the Core One+.
PrusaSlicer 2.9.6 has no plain MK2 preset, so the stack is the vendor “Original Prusa i3 MK2S” printer (the same bed and
axes), “0.20mm NORMAL” and Generic PLA, flattened by tools/flatten_preset.py. mk2-pla.ini replaces the vendor PLA’s
Linear Advance lines with M900 K0: firmware 3.2.3 has M900 but no M572, and its Linear Advance version is not
confirmed. The start G-code’s M862 checks answer “Invalid M code” on 3.2.3, which does no harm. Opening the USB port
resets the board, so every file heats from cold. Its firmware Z limit is 210 mm (Z_MAX_POS in 3.2.3’s MK2 variant header, read by the prusa-i3-mk2 session), 10 mm above the rated 200, so the 200 mm Z tower is not clipped. Jog the empty printer to Z 200 before the tower to confirm the carriage clears the frame. The stock E-steps value is 161.3.
Only the machine tests slice for it: the first layer, the extruder, the skew gauge, the Z tower and the multi-test. The tests sized for the Core One+’s high-flow nozzle and the pressure-advance tower have no MK2 version.
