Beacon block board: coupon

Boards / beacon nets cut at the block boundary by tools/blockgen.py; bench header pins are the only addition

A footprint coupon: the three beacon lands that have not yet met their parts, the Seeed Wio-SX1262 radio module, the Q43's GH-8 connector and the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1U, as bare copper to solder a sample onto before the beacon is ordered.

What it does

Nothing electrically. It is three footprints on a 49 x 32 mm two-layer board, with every ground pad on one poured ground net and no other connections: a place to put a real Wio-SX1262, a real GH-8 header and a real WROOM-1U and look at the joints. Two of these lands carry a question the drawings cannot answer: the Wio-SX1262’s datasheet gives its castellations’ size and pitch but not how far they reach in from the module edge, and the Q43’s GH-8 pin order is read from the module’s silkscreen, so which end is pin 1 is confirmed only with the module in hand. The WROOM-1U land is KiCad’s own and is on the coupon because it is new to this project.

Where it sits

On the bench. A coupon costs a few dollars in the same order as the block boards and answers both questions before the beacon’s own order, where a wrong land would cost a revision.

Main parts

Land Part it is for
terrahawk:Seeed_Wio-SX1262 Seeed Wio-SX1262 LoRa module (the beacon’s two radios)
JST GH BM08B-GHS-TBT, vertical The Q43 GNSS module’s connector
terrahawk:ESP32-S3-WROOM-1U The beacon’s ESP32 module with its U.FL

Status

Rev A draft, 2026-10-10 (EDA 8a289ae): generated by tools/blockgen.py beacon --coupon ..., DRC 0 errors and 0 warnings. Not ordered. The check is visual and mechanical: solder a sample of each part, confirm the Wio’s castellations sit centred on their pads, the GH-8’s pin 1 agrees with the Q43’s lead, and the WROOM’s thermal pad wets.
